The Bullmastiff being blessed with a notable intelligence learns quickly to do or not to do what we tell him. From three months it should be getting used to a lead. His first outings will not of course make you proud of him. The Bullmastiff in the first months of life suffers the incursions and violence of other dogs, until about one year old his behaviour is certainly not courageous! His first outings are characterised by caution, frightened with his tail between his legs, this does not depend on a personality problem. He is disturbed by any object he encounters, from another dog's bark to his own image, in such a way that he will hide behind his owner. This is normal for a Bullmastiff puppy, which will disappear eventually leaving no trace. It is important that the owner does not keep his dog, above all when young, closed at home, but to get him used to city traffic, to people, to noises, to shape his character; it is enough that the owner dedicates 10 minutes a day to teach him basic obedience. You must be careful that he does not suffer aggression from other dogs as adult dogs could show intolerance and aggressive behaviour towards him. A dog that has not suffered harsh treatment, will know how to stay with other dogs and demonstrate a playful and tolerant behaviour, above all with smaller dogs.
If you notice that the puppy is unenthusiastic with his food you need to reduce the quantity, because be may have eaten too much before or have found something around.
Remember: It is important not to give too much, it is better to have a lighter dog than a dog that is too fat. Never leave food down for a dog but leave it down only at meal times.
